‘SNL’ Delivers A ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Toy Commercial For Kids Ages 6 And Up…Way Up
Once Force Friday arrived back in September, it wasn’t just kids who were excited to get their hands on the newStar Wars: The Force Awakenstoys. In fact, part of me wonders if there were more adults anxious to get their hands on some toys that night instead of the youngsters. But that doesn’t mean any of the toy commercials are geared towards adults…until now.
Last night,Saturday Night Livedebuted a new Star Wars toy commercial forThe Force Awakensaction figures and playsets, complete with a wholly accurate representation of some adult collectors snatching up toys out there.
Here’s theSaturday Night LiveStar Warstoy commercial from theSNL YouTube channel:
Please note that while this does mock some adultStar Warsfans out there, it’s hardly a low blow just making fun of people for being nerdy and passionate about something they love. There are people who are super obsessive about theseStar Warstoys and definitely act like this. I’ve met collectors who buy three different versions of the same toy, and I even have some from my youth that I kept in the package.
It’s a harmless mockery of a real sect ofStar Warsfans out there. And just in case some of you out there want to get angry about it, remember that cast memberBobby Moynihanis one of the biggestStar Warsfans around. Check out these photos of him attending the special outdoor Star Wars concert that was put on for fans who attended The Force Awakens panel at Comic-Con:

Honestly, all I can say about this commercial, including Moynihan’s accurate portrayal of the landing of the Millennium Falcon is that it’s true. All of it. And you can bet your bottom dollar that I asked for a fewStar Warstoys for Christmas. The Black Series line is one of the best ever produced, and I’ll always be a bit of a kid at heart.
