Ridley Scott Developing Biblical Tale ‘Moses;’ Says ‘It’s Going To Happen’
Thirty-five. That’s how many moviesRidley Scottis developing according to the IMDB and that doesn’t even count a potentialPrometheussequel,Blade Runnerprequelor his next movie,The Counselor. Admittedly, the IMDB is mostly unreliable when it comes to upcoming projects and most of these movies are now dead or will never get off the ground but, even if you cut out 80% of them, you’re still looking at seven movies. Which is insane for one man. And now, in an interview discussing his latest filmPrometheus, he let it slip that he has another one for the list.
Scott toldEsquire Magazinethat he’s been quietly developing a film based on the life story ofMosesand that “it’s going to happen.” Read his quote and some other speculation after the jump.

I’ve got something else in the works. I’m already doing it. It’s called ‘Moses.’ Seriously, seriously. It’s going to happen. I probably shouldn’t have let that slip out. I’m not supposed to say anything. It’s definitely in the cards, though. What’s interesting to me about Moses isn’t the big stuff that everybody knows. It’s things like his relationship with Ramses [II, the pharaoh]. I honestly wasn’t paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.
The Playlist article also points out we’ve heard rumblings of two Moses films in the works:Gods and Kingswith Steven Spielberg attachedand another at Fox, which is releasing Scott’sPrometheusandThe Counselor,written by Bill Collage and Adam Cooperwhich is supposed to be in the style of300. Seems pretty likely that’s Scott’s film, unless there’s a third Moses movie in development.
As for Scott’s assurance that “it’s going to happen,” that doesn’t mean he’ll direct or that it’ll happen soon. He’s shootingThe Counselorin the next few months and, after that, could do any number of things,such as his Western. Also you’d have to imagine aPrometheussequel will likely be high on Fox’s wish list.
