Pixar Becomes Reality: ‘Toy Story 3’ Fan Meticulously Recreates Andy’s Room In Real Life
From cosplay to homemade replicas, fans have come up with some pretty creative ways to recreate costumes and props from some of their favorite movies. But one group of young fans is taking things to a new level with their meticulous real life recreation of Andy’s room fromToy Story 3. Yes, they’ve recreated his entire bedroom.
Before you think this is just some creepy place to hold somebody prisoner so they think they’re lost inside of a computer animated movie, this has all been done as part of a live-action, shot-for-shot recreation ofToy Story 3with real toys and real people. And their recreation of Andy’s room will really play tricks on your mind.

Here are some prime examples of just how accurate the real life recreation of Andy’s room turned out, with the movie photos on top, and the real-life recreation just below their respective movie still:
Thanks toThe AV Clubfor bringing these images fromThe Pixaristto our attention. It’s a testament to how far computer animation has come in a relatively short period of time that at first it’s hard to tell which images are fromToy Story 3and which are snapshots of the recreated room. In addition, it also shows just how detailed and accurate this real life recreation fromMorganandMason McGrewturned out.

And if you want to see how the entire project is coming along, check out a trailer here:
As you can see, this is beyond obsession, and I’m curious to find out how much this entire endeavor costs when all is said and done. It’s also rather inspiring to see a group of passionate young fans embarking on a project like this. Though one can’t help but wonder how all these resources might be spent on a more original filmmaking endeavor, at least this teenager responsible is having fun and acting on his dreams.

Here’s what the creators of the live-actionToy Story 3project have to say about its inception:
How did this project begin? Well, itall started after my brother and I had seen Toy Story 3 on its opening night. It instantly became our favorite film and… you could say an obsession kinda ensued. I mean, we began collecting just about EVERY new toy from the film to accompany the ones we had as kids. Yeah, a slight obsession. Let’s fast forward 2 years. By this time I’m (Morgan) 16, and I finally realize that Toy Story 3 was more than just my favorite film. It actually was kinda my life. I was growing up, I and still am (obviously). Anyway, I didn’t want to miss my chance to thank Pixar for making Toy Story 3 and every other film for that matter. So with a love for Pixar, Toy Story 3 and filmmaking, the Live Action Toy Story 3 project began.

If you want to stay up to date on the progress of this project, they have a Facebook pagewhere they’re keeping track of the production (including all the attention this recreation of Andy’s room is getting online). Whenever this project gets finished, we’ll be sure to let you know.
