No, Christian Bale Will Not Play Batman In ‘Justice League’

Warner Bros. wouldn’t think about making aJustice Leaguemovie without Batman, but just who would don the cape and cowl has remained a mystery. One name we can rule out for certain now, though, isChristian Bale.

In a new interview, theDark Knightstar revealed that not only is he most definitely not inJustice League, he hasn’t even been contacted aboutJustice League. Like the rest of us, he’s just sitting back and waiting to see what the next guy will do with the character. Hit the jump to read his comments.

Rumors that Bale could reprise his role forJustice Leaguehavecropped upperiodically over the past couple of years, but there’s been more reason to believe that he wouldn’t. Although Bale hasadmittedthat he might be open to doing another Batman film ifChristopher Nolanwanted to, the director’s never seriously seemed interested. Plus, screenwriterDavid S. Goyerand directorZack Snyderhave both mentioned thatJustice League’s Batman would be a rebooted one.

But in case there were any lingering hopes, Bale has now firmly put theJustice Leaguerumors could rest. “I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making aJustice Leaguemovie, that’s it,” he toldEW.

Lest you think Bale’s broken up about that, he added that he’s eager to see the character pass on to the next star. “It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

Besides, Bale said, he’s had enough time with the Caped Crusader. “We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” he said. “Chris always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”
