Homer And Marge Will Separate On A New Episode Of ‘The Simpsons’
Next season,The Simpsonsis really shaking things up. We’ve already heard theTreehouse of Horrorepisode will give Sideshow Bobhis ultimate wish, and now executive producerAl Jeanhas revealed they’re going to fool around with one of the show’s most sacred institutions. The 27th season will premiere with an episode that sees Marge and Homer get legally separated. Find out more about the storyline, and some other new Simpsons episodes including an homage toBoyhood, below.
Simpsons executive producer Al Jean talked toVarietyabout the upcoming season ofThe Simpsonsand talked about a bunch of upcoming cameos and storylines. Here’s the biggest:
In the premiere,it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll havecameos from the other women from “Girls.”
As we all know, though, nothing onThe Simpsonssticks and (spoiler!) Homer and Marge were meant to be together. They’ll be back together by the end of the episode, but it’ll still be interesting to see this happen.
Another awesome episode tease:
We have an episode based on the film “Boyhood.” It’s a flashback/flashforward about Bart. We go to various points in his life and his life to come which I think came out really well.
Jean also mentions that Spider-Pig will be back, Kate McKinnon will provide a voice and then talks about another movie:
The movie was such a time-intensive operation, it pulled a lot away from the show. Iwould rather end the show whenever that happensbefore doing another movie. It’sunlikely there’ll be another “Simpsons” feature while the show is being produced.
I love thatThe Simpsonscontinues to move ahead and try new things. This show could probably go on forever. What do you think of these ideas?
