Here’s When You’ll See Another ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer
J.J. Abrams, Lucasfilm and Disney didn’t have to give us a glimpse atStar Wars: The Force Awakensjust yet. The movie is still over a year away; no one would have blamed them if we didn’t see something until six months out from release. That’s always been the schedule. But they were kind, and gave us seven scenes to dissect and discuss after almost two years of wild speculation. Now we know John Boyega’s character is a Stormtrooper, Oscar Isaac flies an X-Wing, there’s a new droid, and a bit more.
So yes, it was very kind and exciting to get a first teaser trailer forStar Wars: The Force Awakens. This is the Internet, though. We’re always looking toward the next thing. We’ve seen this teaser, but when will we see a secondStar Wars: The Force Awakenstrailer? Well, we just happen to know for sure.

We’ve been definitively told that another trailer forStar Wars: The Force Awakenswill be attached toAvengers: Age of Ultronwhen it opens in the Spring. Now, this isn’t some huge revelation. In fact, it’s pretty darn obvious when you think about it. That film, released May 1 in the US, is eight months before theStar Warsopening. It’s Disney’s second largest film of the year and the audience crossover is probably massive. Actually, it would probably be bigger news if there wasn’t a new trailer onAvengers: Age of Ultron. But there will be. Then it’ll likely play onTomorrowlandtoo, a few weeks later.
That we know for a fact. But will that be the secondStar Wars Force Awakenstrailer? Or will it be a third or fourth? Unfortunately, that we don’t know for sure. We found this interesting though:
iTunes is referring to this trailer as the “First Teaser.” It doesn’t say that on theactual trailer page, though. It only says it on the iTunes home page, as of Sunday November 30. That seems like very selective wording, but it’s possible it was not approved by Lucasfilm.
So could we see a second teaser beforeAge of Ultron? Well, it’s December. There’s a big Disney movie coming out in three weeks calledInto The Woods, but you’d think they’d still be running this trailer at that point. Two months later, though, is the Super Bowl. Disney and that huge event have a long history. (“You’ve just won the Super Bowl where are you going?” “I’m going to Disney World!") So I imagine there’s a chance Disney could purchase a commercial spot during that broadcast. Then, there’sCinderellain March, another big Disney release.
The smart guess is, if we don’t see another trailer by the timeCinderellacomes out,Avengers: Age of Ultronwill be the second one. But anything is possible.
Do you think we’ll see aStar Wars: The Force Awakenstrailer before the one attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron?
