Marvel issued a press release this morning stating that filming onGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2is now underway at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios. The film actually began shooting a few days ago — Gunn’salready shared one snapshotfrom the set — but now Marvel is ready to talk about it officially. The first official logline is pretty vague, but fits with earlier reports thatGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2will dig deeper into the mystery of Peter Quill’s heritage.
Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.
The studio is even less forthcoming about which new characters we can expect to see. Earlier rumors have suggested Russell could be Star-Lord’s dad and Klementieff could play Mantis, but Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed any of those reports. (UPDATE:Gunn has revealedKlementieff is indeed playing Mantis.) And your guess is as good as ours about whom Debicki or Sullivan might be playing.
